Position Objectives:

  • To be an advocate for PETA Netherlands and inspire people to become supporters by providing them with information about the charity and animal rights in general

  • To support the director of international response fundraising by generating ideas and providing feedback to help PETA Netherlands’ fundraising flourish

  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date records about members and contributors to PETA Netherlands and help expand the membership database

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide excellent service to PETA Netherlands members through correspondence and on the telephone

  • Monitor PETA Netherlands’ mail, e-mail account, phone, and voice-mail, and respond to all queries within pre-defined time periods

  • Generate letters and e-mail correspondence in Dutch, including donor updates and acknowledgement letters

  • Process all PETA Netherlands donations and bank statements in pre-defined time periods to ensure donors’ records are kept up to date

  • Act as the primary contact for general questions and queries from donors and members

  • Assist in coordinating copy and artwork for the Fundraising Department

  • Translate text from Dutch to English and English to Dutch

  • Research opportunities for promoting PETA Netherlands legacies and memberships

  • Supervise the PETA Netherlands database, making sure all membership data is correctly kept, is up to date, and conforms with data-protection legislation

  • Liaise with the various departments and working partners of PETA UK as well as other international affiliates

  • Work closely with the database team and the Financial Department, making sure that all incoming and outgoing funds are administrated efficiently and correctly

  • Research and manage donation disputes and ensure their removal from PETA Netherlands’ membership database

  • Research various animal-related topics, and stay informed about developments related to PETA Netherlands and the animal rights movement

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Native Dutch speaker

  • Fluent in English and able to translate between Dutch and English

  • Previous membership services experience or other relevant experience

  • Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software

  • Working knowledge of database systems (knowledge of The Raiser’s Edge desirable)

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times

  • Demonstrated exceptional organisational skills

  • Knowledge of animal rights issues as well as current campaigns by PETA Netherlands and its international affiliates

  • Commitment to the objectives of the organisation and to PETA Netherlands
